A Person's Emotional Intelligence is Often not Known
|
Character vs Personality. Character is who we really are and what we value being. Personality is how we are perceived by others around us. They may be the same in a particular person, or they may be very different. |
| Most people try to put their best foot forward.
They want to be perceived by others usually in a socially acceptable manner. Behind
the facade, the person may be very different. Many play the "win the job game". This is where they do everything they can to get a potential employer to see them in a positive light, often to the point of falsifying information. In the "dating game", many go to great lengths to impress someone else, often temporarily acting in ways that are not typical of them in order to win commitment to a relationship. Some "con men", go to the point of consciously trying to trick others for selfish gain. |

Most of us lack total awareness of many of our true values and qualities. Some simply have not observed themselves carefully enough. Others may not have received enough realistic feedback from others, while still others have "ego defense mechanisms" that are designed by the mind to protect itself from seeing and dealing with harsh reality. |
